Water consumption in Oman is gradually increasing and expected to rise by 52% in 2022 as compared to 2018. sewage and sludge production is increasing proportionally.
Sewage treatment and sludge utilization are of growing concern in GCC countries, due to increasing water consumption and population growth. This feasibility study concerned utilization strategy for sludge in North of Oman. We compared 6 different technologies for sludge treatment and suggest only 2 (biogas digestion and co-firing in cement kiln) as OK to proceed since they are potentially profitable to pursue.
